Meet Our Committee

The committee for the 2019 season is:

Shane has been around AFL for most of his life in junior football and whilst serving as a member of the Australian Defence Force. His family has a strong AFL culture with one of his uncles playing for the Richmond Tigers and Claremont Football Club.

Shane is the proud father of three boys, two who play for the Redhawks, Lincoln and Jake, and one who he has previously coached. His boys are passionate about their team and their club!


Shane would like to lead the Yanchep Districts Junior Football Club (YDJFC) into the future, expanding into a dedicated female team, player development, coaching and future AFL pathways, to name a few.

 

Shane enjoys seeing children learn, play, laugh and having fun whilst gaining lifelong friends. To him this brings meaning and achievement to volunteering. He is looking forward to working with the YDJFC board to ensure a sustainable and successful presence moving forward.

Carrie has been a part of the YDJFC since 2013 when her children, Thomas and Sophie started Auskick. For the past three years, Carrie has coached her youngest, Charlie’s Auskick team and was a finalist in the West Perth District, Auskick Coach of the Year in 2017.

Carrie enjoys coaching and seeing the YDJFC player’s skills, fitness and passion for the AFL game grow. In 2019, Carrie will continue to coaching Charlie’s team into the Modified competition with her husband, Laurence and Coach Shannon.

 

She is passionate about developing our players, coaches and volunteers and being a part of the steering Committee to expand female footy at YDJFC.

 

Carrie would like to encourage all parents, carers and older siblings, to take the leap and become a volunteer at YDJFC.

Gillian is the mum of two boys, Cody and Connor. She has been part of the YDJFC family since 2011 when her eldest son, Cody joined Auskick. In 2014, Cody went onto play Modified’s and Gillian started her first volunteer role as a Team Manager. She enjoyed it so much she did it for a further three years and met lots of new footy families along the way.

 

In 2018 she began the role of Apparel Coordinator. Gillian will continue in this role for 2019 as well as the position of Treasurer. She is excited about the new opportunity and looks forward to watching Connor play his second year of Modified competition in 2019.

GILLIAN RUSSELL

Brooke has been part of the YDJFC for six years and is the mum of two boys and a girl. Her eldest plays in Modified competition and her youngest in Auskick. Her daughter loves to support her brothers in the Saturday and Sunday competition.

 

Brooke grew up with watching AFL with her brothers at their football club in Karratha. She is passionate about AFL and living an active lifestyle enjoying sport, family and friends.

Lisa is a mother of 3 boys and 1 girl. Lisa first joined the club in 2013 when Dylan started Auskick. This year Dylan is playing in the year 9 team, Lucas in the year 5 team and Sienna-Lea is about to start her second year of Auskick.

 

Lisa was team manager of Lucas's year 3 team, before deciding to step into the Registrar position last year and is continuing in the role this season.

 

Lisa has enjoyed meeting our Redhawks families and looks forward to the season ahead.

Melanie is the mother of three boys who love everything about footy! Along with her husband, Jason Glover, they have been involved with YDJFC since their eldest son, Griffen, started Auskick, seven years ago.

 

The Glovers have helped out in various roles and currently have their boys, Griffen and Reuben in the Modified competition and their youngest, Keanoe, in his last year of Auskick. Melanie has been the Auskick Coordinator since 2017 and this will be her final year in this position.

René is a mum of two daughters and a son who have all participated in footy at a young age, including the Footy Fundamentals program. René's family are loyal West Coast supporters and are looking forward to supporting their AFLW team in the years to come.

René has been involved with YDJFC since 2016 when her eldest daughter Claire started Auskick. The following year her son Aiden joined Auskick and in 2018 Claire moved into the Modifieds competition. René took on the Team Manager position for this team and thoroughly enjoyed working with the players and their parents, and looks forward to continuing to support the team in their second year in the Mods competition. 

 

This year René is pleased to join the YDJFC committee as Auskick Registrar and is keen to help make 2019 a fantastic season of footy for all Redhawks players and their families.

Jason has been associated with the YDJFC for seven years when his eldest son, Griffen, started Auskick. Jason has grown up playing AFL and most recently he has played for our Senior Redhawks.

Jason has coached his three boys’ teams throughout his time with the YDJFC. He will be coaching Year 5 in the Modified competition and Year 2 Auskick in 2019. He has taken on the role of Coach Coordinator for 2019 to assist our coaches in their roles.

Naomi Lucas.png

Naomi has been a part of the YDJFC 'family' since 2014 when her youngest started in Auskick. Naomi and her family are passionate West Coast Eagles supporters and love nothing more than Sundays supporting the Junior Redhawks at their game and then going on to Optus Stadium to support the Eagles. Naomi also enjoys following the AFLW competition.

Naomi has been the water runner for her son's team for several seasons now. It's a job she loves to do and she has decided to step up her involvement and take on the role of Sponsorship Officer in 2019. Naomi's aim, with the support of the committee, is to build strong connections between YDJFC and local business with the goal of establishing mutually supportive partnerships with existing and new sponsors, as well as retaining sponsors year to year.

Naomi loves everything about Australian Rules Football! We are a family, a community that promotes engagement with others and she values the contribution AFL makes to the Australian sporting culture.

This is Amy’s first year in the role of Communications Officer, having held the position of Canteen Manager for the past two years. Her family has been involved with the YDJFC for over nine years, assisting in various roles whilst both her sons participated in this amazing sport.

Amy has enjoyed the challenge of running the canteen and found the experience incredibly rewarding and in 2019 she will volunteer in a capacity closer to her heart – communications.

 

Amy has experience managing social media, website, marketing and membership in a number of positions in the past. She will draw on this experience to assist to raise the profile of the YDJFC.

She looks forward to meeting all the parents and children in 2019 and welcomes any suggestions and feedback that can benefit everyone involved.

Mel is the mum of two boys who love to play footy. She has been involved with the YDJFC since 2010 when her eldest son, Jesse started Auskick. Mel first helped out on game day as a First Aider. She has been Committee now for three years and enjoys the roles of Property Manager and First Aid Coordinator.

In 2018 Mel managed Dylan’s Year 5 team. Mel and her family are looking forward to the next season as they all enjoy being part of this AWESOME junior football club. Go REDHAWKS!!
